Tip of the Month
Filling seams, holes and cracks.
Seams, holes and cracks are a modelers enemy. Finding easy ways to cope
with these problems is hard to do. I hope these tips will help you with
your model kits.
Materials:
Tamiya Putty for plastic
Testors 5302 Plastic Cement
When using Tamiya Putty to fill seams and holes in resin, plastic or vinyl model
kits, use a Plastic Cement to smooth out the putty. Testors 5302 plastic cement
used with a short bristled paint brush, (not the bottle brush) will smooth out
the putty and make it flow over detail without degrading the texture. If the
putty is dry, the cement will re-activate the putty so it can be smoothed even
more. For clean up, rinse the brush in the plastic cement bottle and then just
wipe off the brush. After a while the plastic cement will accumulate putty in it
and this PUTTY SOLUTION is excellent for filling cracks, and even priming
surfaces.
